Outside Room 8 is a story about cancer and its treatments. Geert Broertjes had been experiencing abdominal pain for a while and it was getting worse. After a few days of testing at the hospital he received bad news: they had found a tumor in his colon, it turned out he had been a carrier of Lynch syndrome. Together with his close friend, photographer Lotte Bronsgeest, they started a project in which they exposed analogue photography to the same treatments as cancer patients: chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.
